Christina Bohannan is a law professor, former Iowa State Representative, and current candidate for Iowa’s 1st Congressional District. Raised in a small Florida town by working-class parents, Bohannan was the first in her family to attend college. She earned her engineering degree before becoming a professor of law at the University of Iowa.
In the state legislature, she advocated for public education, workers’ rights, and healthcare access. Running as a Democrat, Bohannan is focused on improving economic opportunities, affordable healthcare, and infrastructure in Iowa. She aims to challenge Republican incumbent Marianette Miller-Meeks.

I think we can absolutely protect both at the same time...And I want us to get away from this more extreme argument on kind of the left and the right about it. A lot of Democrats in Iowa are gun owners and believe that we should protect gun rights while also making sure that our kids and our communities are safe.
