Kristen McDonald Rivet (D) grew up in a working-class, Catholic family in Michigan, where hard work and service to others were core values. After graduating from Michigan State University and earning a master’s degree from the University of Michigan-Flint, Kristen dedicated her career to improving education, child care, and public policy. She is currently a Michigan State Senator, representing the Great Lakes Bay Region, and is the first woman to do so.
As a State Senator, Kristen led the passage of the largest tax cut for working families in Michigan's history. She has championed legislation to address the state’s childcare crisis, protect abortion rights, and promote gun safety. Her work focuses on leveling the playing field for Michigan families and ensuring that the "Michigan Dream" is attainable for all.
