Keisha Lance Bottoms is the former Mayor of Atlanta and Democratic nominee for Governor of Georgia. A nationally recognized leader with deep roots in Georgia, Bottoms is running to build an economy that works for working families, protect fundamental rights, and continue Georgia’s growth while expanding opportunity across the state.
Raised in Atlanta by a working-class family, Bottoms is the daughter of a singer-songwriter and a postal worker. Her background shaped her focus on economic opportunity, public service, and community investment. After earning degrees from Florida A&M University and Georgia State University College of Law, she built a career in public service before serving on the Atlanta City Council and later being elected Mayor of Atlanta.
During her tenure as mayor, Bottoms focused on:
- economic development and job growth
- infrastructure investment
- public safety and community partnerships
- affordable housing initiatives
- expanding opportunity across Atlanta neighborhoods
She later served in a senior leadership role within the Biden administration, where she worked on issues involving public engagement, voting rights, and national policy priorities.
Bottoms’ gubernatorial campaign is centered on:
- protecting reproductive freedom
- lowering costs for Georgia families
- expanding healthcare access
- investing in public education
- defending voting rights and democratic institutions
- strengthening Georgia’s economy and workforce
Bottoms enters the general election after decisively winning the Democratic primary outright, avoiding a runoff and consolidating Democratic support early in one of the nation’s most competitive gubernatorial races. Her campaign combines strong turnout infrastructure in metro Atlanta with a broad statewide coalition aimed at maintaining Democratic gains in suburban communities while expanding voter engagement across Georgia.
In a highly competitive statewide environment, Bottoms’ campaign is positioned around coalition-building, turnout mobilization, and suburban persuasion in a race expected to be one of the central battlegrounds of 2026.
I was raised to stand up to bullies and to fight for what is right. We deserve better than what Donald Trump and Republicans are giving us. I’ll never be afraid to battle for the people of Georgia.
